BEHIND SEXTING
–
Intergenerational digital sex education
The main objective of BEHIND SEXTING is to raise awareness in adolescents and parents about the risks of sexting. The project also encourages intergenerational critical discussion and peer learning in schools in order to nurture understanding towards potential risks of sexting and how to prevent them.
About the Project
WHAT?
BEHIND SEXTING project intends to create an open education and innovative training in the digital age aimed at raising adolescents aged 10-19 and parents awareness about the risks of sexting. At the same time, the project will involve school teachers in order to offer input to engage in dialogue with students for preventing the phenomenon of sexting.
HOW?
Through the elaboration of a digital sex education learning model, adolescents and parents will acquire knowledge and skills for recognising and preventing digital media risks, with particular care of sexting. The training path will be based on the peer educational approach, gradual, non judgmental and participatory under the supervision of school teachers and experts in the field of sexting and digital media.
WHY?
The idea is born from the reflection on two main issues: firstly, the digital tools are part of young people daily life presenting many benefits but also many risks and challenges that directly affect on their lives. Secondly, adolescence is a period of change, identity development and sexual exploration during which teens generally begin their first romantic relationships. The spread of digital devices provide additional ways for adolescents to explore, develop, and test relationships, presenting some challenges such as sexting.
The BEHIND SEXTING project is therefore in line with the European Parliament’s commitment for protection of children in the digital world.
WHO?
The BEHIND SEXTING activities and products are addressed to students aged 10-19 attending the secondary school, parents, school teachers and experts in the field of sexuality and digital media.
The partnership who develops the digital sex education model including didactic materials is composed by eight organisations from Czech Republic, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia, working on the education, training and ICT fields.
